What is an HIV Test?

Components of the Test:

Understanding the Test Report:
Non-Reactive (Negative) → No HIV detected (consider window period of 2–12 weeks)
Reactive (Positive) → HIV detected; confirmatory tests (Western Blot / PCR) required
Indeterminate → Repeat testing needed
Window Period:
4th Gen Test: Detects HIV within 2–4 weeks of exposure
If tested too early, a repeat test is recommended at 6 and 12 weeks
