Description
Number of Tests Included:
Single blood test measuring eosinophil count.
What is an Absolute Eosinophil Count Test?
A hematology test that measures the exact number of eosinophils per microliter of blood, helping detect immune and allergic conditions.
Purpose of the Test:
Diagnose allergic disorders (asthma, rhinitis, eczema)
Detect parasitic infections
Identify autoimmune or inflammatory conditions
Evaluate unexplained cough, breathing issues, or skin rashes
Monitor treatment in eosinophilia
Who Should Get This Test?
Individuals with chronic allergies or asthma
People with skin rashes, itching, or eczema
Patients with suspected parasitic infections
Individuals with persistent cough or breathing problems
Routine evaluation when CBC shows high eosinophils
Components of the Test:
Absolute Eosinophil Count (cells/µL)
Sometimes includes percentage eosinophils from differential count
Understanding the Test Report:
Normal AEC: 30–350 cells/µL
Mild Eosinophilia: 350–1500 cells/µL
Moderate Eosinophilia: 1500–5000 cells/µL
Severe Eosinophilia: >5000 cells/µL
High values may indicate allergies, asthma, parasitic infections, or blood disorders.
Preparation and Procedure:
Routine blood sample
No special preparation required
How is the Test Done?
A blood sample is analyzed using an automated hematology analyzer, which calculates the absolute eosinophil count.
Best Time for Test:
Anytime.
