What is a Dengue IgG & IgM Test?
A serological test that checks for the presence of two types of dengue antibodies—IgM (early-stage) and IgG (later or past infection). It helps doctors understand the timing and severity of infection.
Purpose of the Test:
Diagnose suspected dengue fever
Identify whether infection is primary or secondary
Guide treatment based on stage of illness
Detect past exposure to dengue virus
Who Should Get This Test?
Individuals with fever, body pain, headache, or rash

Components of the Test:
IgM antibodies (recent or active infection)
IgG antibodies (past infection or later stage)
Understanding the Test Report:
IgM Positive, IgG Negative → Recent/primary dengue infection
IgM Positive, IgG Positive → Recent infection, possibly progressing
IgM Negative, IgG Positive → Past infection or secondary dengue
Both Negative → No active dengue (may test again if early stage)
